Accessibility Plan - Progress Report 2024
At Seaboard Transport Group of Companies, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and accessible workplace where every employee, regardless of their ability or background can contribute and thrive. We recognize the importance of removing barriers to employment and career advancement, and we are dedicated to ensuring our facilities, systems and culture reflect this commitment.
The Accessible Canada Act exists to identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility with the goal of making Canada barrier-free by January 1, 2040. In accordance with this law, Seaboard Transport has developed an Accessibility Plan that details how barriers to accessibility in the workplace will be removed in several priority areas.
We understand that success comes from valuing the unique strengths and perspectives of those who make up our diverse workforce. With a continuous improvement mindset, we commit to actively advancing our efforts to foster an environment that supports accessibility for employees, professional drivers, contractors and our customers. Specifically, Seaboard is committed to:
- Providing equal access to employment opportunities, training and career advancement throughout the employee lifecycle
- Accommodating the individual accessibility needs of employees and employment applicants in a respectful and timely manner
- Enhancing the accessibility of our current workspaces, ensuring that equipment and communication systems are inclusive
- Promoting a culture of awareness, openness, respect and continuous improvement when it comes to accessibility and inclusion
- Complying with all applicable accessibility legislation and, where possible, going above and beyond to support our team members
We believe that accessibility is a shared responsibility, and we are dedicated to ongoing dialogue, education and action to drive forward towards a barrier-free workplace.
