Jake K. Wiebe Trucking, the forerunner to Wiebe Transport Ltd, was founded in 1968 by Jake Wiebe. His first truck, a 1600 international, hauled groceries and livestock in Northern Alberta. In 1978 Jake and his son Ron Wiebe bought a 1978 Kenworth and started hauling Canola. This marked the start of a lucrative family business, Wiebe Transport Ltd., which rapidly developed into a highly respected carrier serving Western Canada. By 2002, sons Ken, Raymond and Phillip had joined the family business to assist in the expansion of Wiebe Transport, adding facilities in La Crete, Grand Prairie, and Sherwood Park Alberta. This also included a fertilizer distribution warehouse, rail spur and transload facility.
In 2011 Seaboard acquired Wiebe Transport and Petrohaul from Parkland Fuel Corporation. With their Safe, Reliable and Professional reputation that Seaboard strives to maintain, this was an opportune way for the Seaboard Transport Group to solidify their presence in Western Canada.
With highly professional drivers, and a company-wide focus on customer service, and a strong management team Wiebe Transport is well-positioned for continued success. Continued investments in technology, employee development, facilities and quality processes assures the Wiebe Transport infrastructure will continue to meet its customers’ needs.
